How to uninstall Loom on Mac completely
Your Loom videos are stored in your Loom account, so uninstalling the desktop app doesn’t delete them. On the Mac, Loom leaves its data, caches, updater files, settings and logs, and keeps parts of recordings that haven’t finished uploading in a folder in Movies. Here is how to remove the app without losing a recording.

- Open MacWashing and choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
- Click Show Apps and check Loom in the list.
- Click Remove and confirm. Files that may be yours are listed as Possible and stay unchecked.

Check that every recording has uploaded
Loom keeps the parts of a recording on the Mac until the upload finishes. If an upload failed, Loom’s help suggests fully quitting Loom from its icon in the menu bar, opening it again and waiting a few minutes, or using loom.com/recover-videos. Uninstall only when your videos play in your Loom library.
Uninstall Loom the way Loom’s help describes
- Quit Loom from its icon in the menu bar.
- Open Finder › Applications and drag Loom to the Trash.
- Restart your Mac.
Loom’s help also removes ~/Library/Application Support/Loom and ~/Library/Logs/Loom when the app misbehaves. The other leftovers are listed below.
What Loom leaves behind
All of these are in the Library folder inside your home folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Loom— Loom’s data and caches.~/Library/Caches/com.loom.desktop— the cache.~/Library/Caches/loom-updaterand~/Library/Caches/com.loom.desktop.ShipIt— files downloaded by the updater.~/Library/Preferences/com.loom.desktop.plist— settings.~/Library/Logs/Loom— logs.~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.loom.desktop— data of the app’s network requests.
~/Movies/Loom is where Loom keeps parts of recordings until they are uploaded. If an upload failed, they may be the only copy of that video: Loom’s support can use them to recover it. Keep this folder until you are sure all your videos are in your Loom library.
Remove the leftovers by hand
- In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type a path from the list above and press Return.
- Move the folder or file to the Trash.
- Repeat for the other paths.
- Restart your Mac, then empty the Trash.

Remove Loom’s access to the camera and screen
To record, Loom asks for access to the camera, microphone, screen recording and accessibility. After uninstalling, open System Settings › Privacy & Security and look at Camera, Microphone, Screen & System Audio Recording and Accessibility. If Loom is still listed, select it and click the minus button below the list.
With MacWashing, it’s one click

The Uninstaller in MacWashing knows the files Loom creates in your Library folder, its caches and updater files included, and removes them together with the app. The Loom folder in Movies, which may hold parts of your recordings, is listed as Possible and stays unchecked until you check it yourself.

Questions and answers
Will MacWashing delete my own files when it removes Loom?
No. The Uninstaller checks only what belongs to the app: its settings, caches, logs and background items. Folders that may hold your own files are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself, and apps go to the Trash by default, so you can put them back.
What if Loom is still running?
MacWashing waits for it to quit, or quits it at your request, and only then removes its files.
Is it free to uninstall Loom with MacWashing?
Yes, within the free trial: System Junk and the Uninstaller free up to 25 GB in total, with no account or card needed.
Will uninstalling Loom delete my videos?
No. Uploaded videos are stored in your Loom account and stay in your library. Only recordings that haven’t finished uploading are on the Mac, in Movies › Loom.
What is the Loom folder in Movies?
Loom keeps parts of recordings there until they are uploaded. If all your videos are in your library, you don’t need it. If one is missing, keep the folder and contact Loom’s support.
Can I reinstall Loom later?
Yes. Download it again from loom.com/download and sign in. Loom will ask for camera, microphone and screen access again.
