How to uninstall Microsoft Teams on Mac completely
Deleting Microsoft Teams from Applications removes the app, but not its data folders, logs, the audio driver it adds to the system or its updater. Here is Microsoft’s own way to remove Teams and how to clean up what stays.

- Open MacWashing and choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
- Click Show Apps and check Microsoft Teams in the list.
- Click Remove and confirm. Files that may be yours are listed as Possible and stay unchecked.

Uninstall Teams the way Microsoft describes
Teams has no separate uninstaller on the Mac. Microsoft says to remove it like any other Mac app:
- Quit Teams: right-click its icon in the Dock, hold down Option and choose Force Quit.
- Open Finder › Applications, select Microsoft Teams and move it to the Trash.
- Enter your administrator password if macOS asks for it.
Microsoft also names the two folders that hold Teams’ data and cache: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams and ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2. They stay on the Mac after the app is gone.
What Teams leaves behind
Check these places. The first ones are in the Library folder inside your home folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2— Teams’ data and cache.~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams— more Teams data.~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams— data of classic Teams, if you used it before.~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.teams2.helper.plist— settings.~/Library/Logs/Microsoft Teams— logs./Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/MSTeamsAudioDevice.driver— a virtual audio device Teams adds to the system for calls./Library/Application Support/Microsoft/TeamsUpdaterDaemon— the updater.
The folders UBF8T346G9.ms, UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.oneauth and UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.entrabroker in ~/Library/Group Containers hold Microsoft sign-in data shared by all Microsoft apps. If you keep Office, OneDrive or Edge, leave them in place.
Remove the leftovers by hand
- In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type a path from the list above and press Return.
- Move the folder or file to the Trash. Files in
/Libraryneed your administrator password. - Repeat for the other paths.
- Restart your Mac, so the audio driver is unloaded, then empty the Trash.

Questions and answers
Will MacWashing delete my own files when it removes Microsoft Teams?
No. The Uninstaller checks only what belongs to the app: its settings, caches, logs and background items. Folders that may hold your own files are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself, and apps go to the Trash by default, so you can put them back.
What if Microsoft Teams is still running?
MacWashing waits for it to quit, or quits it at your request, and only then removes its files.
Is it free to uninstall Microsoft Teams with MacWashing?
Yes, within the free trial: System Junk and the Uninstaller free up to 25 GB in total, with no account or card needed.
Will I lose my chats if I uninstall Teams?
No. Chats, channels and shared files are kept in your Microsoft account or your organization’s Microsoft 365, not in the app. Files you saved from Teams to your Mac, for example in Downloads, also stay where they are.
Does deleting Teams remove it from Microsoft Office?
Teams is a separate app. Removing it doesn’t touch Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or OneDrive.
Can I reinstall Teams later?
Yes. Download it again from Microsoft and sign in. Your teams, chats and meetings come back from your account.
