How to uninstall Figma on Mac completely

Figma files live in your Figma account, not on your Mac, so uninstalling the desktop app doesn’t delete them. The app comes with a font helper, FigmaAgent, that runs in the background so Figma can use the fonts installed on your Mac. Here is how to remove the app, the helper and the files they leave behind.

  1. Open MacWashing and choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
  2. Click Show Apps and check Figma in the list.
  3. Click Remove and confirm. Files that may be yours are listed as Possible and stay unchecked.

Before you start

Figma saves your work to the cloud as you go. If you worked offline, Figma shows that a file has unsaved changes: connect to the internet and let it save before you uninstall.

To keep your own copy of a file, open it and choose Main menu › File › Save local copy. Figma saves a .fig file to your Downloads folder, without comments and version history.

Remove the font helper with Figma’s command

Figma’s help describes how to remove the font helper on a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (in Applications › Utilities).
  2. Paste this command and press Return: /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://desktop.figma.com/agent/mac/uninstall.sh)"

The command stops FigmaAgent, removes it from ~/Library/Application Support/Figma and removes its login item. It doesn’t remove the desktop app itself. If you keep using Figma in a browser with the fonts on your Mac, skip this step: the browser version needs the font helper for that.

Delete Figma in Finder

  1. Quit Figma: choose Figma › Quit Figma or press Command-Q.
  2. Open Finder › Applications and drag Figma to the Trash.

What Figma leaves behind

All of these are in the Library folder inside your home folder:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Figma — the desktop app’s data and caches, and the FigmaAgent font helper.
  • ~/Library/Application Support/figma-desktop — more data of the desktop app.
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.figma.Desktop — the app’s cache.
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.figma.agent and ~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.figma.agent — cache and network data of the font helper.
  • ~/Library/Preferences/com.figma.Desktop.plist — settings.
  • ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.figma.Desktop.savedState — the window state macOS restores on launch.

Remove the leftovers by hand

  1. If you didn’t run Figma’s command, stop the font helper first: open Activity Monitor, search for FigmaAgent, select it, click the stop button and choose Force Quit.
  2. In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type a path from the list above and press Return.
  3. Move the folder or file to the Trash.
  4. Repeat for the other paths.
  5. Open System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions (macOS Sonoma: Login Items). If FigmaAgent is still listed under Open at Login, select it and click the minus button.
  6. Restart your Mac, then empty the Trash.

Will MacWashing delete my own files when it removes Figma?

No. The Uninstaller checks only what belongs to the app: its settings, caches, logs and background items. Folders that may hold your own files are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself, and apps go to the Trash by default, so you can put them back.

What if Figma is still running?

MacWashing waits for it to quit, or quits it at your request, and only then removes its files.
