How to uninstall Postman on Mac completely
Postman is easy to delete, but it leaves its local data, caches and updater files in your Library folder. Before you remove it, check where your work lives: what you made while signed in is in your Postman account, while work done without signing in exists only on this Mac.

- Open MacWashing and choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
- Click Show Apps and check Postman in the list.
- Click Remove and confirm. Files that may be yours are listed as Possible and stay unchecked.

Before you start: export what is only on this Mac
When you are signed in, Postman syncs your collections and environments to your account, and signing in again on any Mac brings them back. If you use Postman without signing in (the lightweight API Client), your requests and history exist only on this Mac: save them with Settings › Data › Export before you delete the app. If you also want a file copy of a collection or environment, export it:
- To export a collection, open Collections in the sidebar, click View more actions next to it, choose More › Export collection and then Export JSON.
- To export an environment, open Environments, click View more actions next to it and choose Export.
- Keep the JSON files somewhere outside the Postman folders: you can import them later.
Delete Postman in Finder
- Quit Postman: right-click its icon in the Dock and choose Quit.
- Open Finder › Applications and drag Postman to the Trash.
This removes the app only. Its data, caches and settings stay in your Library folder.
What Postman leaves behind
All of these are in the Library folder inside your home folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Postman— Postman’s local data, with its caches inside.~/Library/Caches/Postmanand~/Library/Caches/com.postmanlabs.mac— caches.~/Library/Preferences/com.postmanlabs.mac.plist— settings.~/Library/Application Support/com.postmanlabs.mac.ShipItand~/Library/Caches/com.postmanlabs.mac.ShipIt— files of the built-in updater.~/Library/Saved Application State/com.postmanlabs.mac.savedState— the saved window state.
The ~/Postman folder in your home folder is Postman’s working directory: files you attach to request bodies are kept in ~/Postman/files. They are your files, not leftovers: move them somewhere else before deleting that folder, or keep it.
Remove the leftovers by hand
- In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type a path from the list above and press Return.
- Move the folder or file to the Trash.
- Repeat for the other paths.
- Restart your Mac, then empty the Trash.

With MacWashing, it’s one click

The Uninstaller in MacWashing knows the files Postman creates in your Library folder and removes them together with the app, the updater files included. Folders that may hold your own files, like Postman’s working directory, are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself.

Questions and answers
Will MacWashing delete my own files when it removes Postman?
No. The Uninstaller checks only what belongs to the app: its settings, caches, logs and background items. Folders that may hold your own files are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself, and apps go to the Trash by default, so you can put them back.
What if Postman is still running?
MacWashing waits for it to quit, or quits it at your request, and only then removes its files.
Is it free to uninstall Postman with MacWashing?
Yes, within the free trial: System Junk and the Uninstaller free up to 25 GB in total, with no account or card needed.
Will I lose my collections if I uninstall Postman?
Not the ones you made while signed in: they are synced to your Postman account and come back when you sign in again. Requests and history of the lightweight API Client (Postman without signing in) are only on this Mac, so export them before you delete the app.
Does deleting the app delete my Postman account?
No. Your account and the data synced to it stay on Postman’s servers. Synced data is removed from there only if you delete the account itself.
Can I reinstall Postman later?
Yes. Download it again, sign in, and Postman restores your synced data from the cloud. Collections you exported as JSON can be brought back with Import.
