How to uninstall Roblox on Mac completely

Roblox on a Mac is the Roblox app for playing and, if you create games, Roblox Studio. Deleting the app is simple, but Roblox keeps its own folder, settings and logs in your Library folder. Here is how to remove all of it. Your account, avatar and games stay on Roblox’s servers.

Uninstaller: a list of apps sorted by size with when each was last opened, Google Chrome selected with its app and cache sizes
  1. Open MacWashing and choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
  2. Click Show Apps and check Roblox in the list.
  3. Click Remove and confirm. Files that may be yours are listed as Possible and stay unchecked.

Uninstall Roblox the way Roblox Support describes

  1. Press Command-Option-Esc to open the Force Quit Applications window.
  2. If Roblox or Roblox Studio is listed, select it and click Force Quit.
  3. Open Finder › Applications and drag Roblox to the Trash. If you have Roblox Studio, drag it to the Trash too.
  4. Empty the Trash.

Roblox Support says the app contains all the Roblox files that were installed. The app does, but the files Roblox creates while it runs are kept elsewhere — see below.

What Roblox leaves behind

All of these are in the Library folder inside your home folder:

  • ~/Library/Roblox — Roblox’s own folder with its local data.
  • ~/Library/Logs/Roblox — logs.
  • ~/Library/Preferences/com.roblox.RobloxPlayer.plist — the app’s settings.
  • ~/Library/Preferences/com.Roblox.Roblox.plist and ~/Library/Preferences/com.roblox.RobloxPlayerChannel.plist — more settings, including the update channel.
  • ~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.roblox.RobloxPlayer.binarycookies — cookies the app saved.

Remove the leftovers by hand

  1. In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type a path from the list above and press Return.
  2. Move the folder or file to the Trash.
  3. Repeat for the other paths.
  4. Restart your Mac, then empty the Trash.

Roblox Support also suggests deleting the logs folder and the Roblox files in Library › Preferences when the app misbehaves: Roblox creates them again on the next launch.

Roblox isn’t the only app that leaves files behind: see how to uninstall apps on Mac completely.

Questions and answers

Will MacWashing delete my own files when it removes Roblox?

No. The Uninstaller checks only what belongs to the app: its settings, caches, logs and background items. Folders that may hold your own files are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself, and apps go to the Trash by default, so you can put them back.

What if Roblox is still running?

MacWashing waits for it to quit, or quits it at your request, and only then removes its files.

Is it free to uninstall Roblox with MacWashing?

Yes, within the free trial: System Junk and the Uninstaller free up to 25 GB in total, with no account or card needed.

Does uninstalling Roblox delete my account or my games?

No. Your account, avatar, purchases and the games you published are stored on Roblox’s servers. Deleting the app only removes it from this Mac.

How do I install Roblox again later?

Sign in on the Roblox website and start a game: you will be asked to install the app. Follow the steps on the screen.

Will reinstalling fix Roblox if it doesn’t work?

It may. Roblox Support suggests restarting the Mac first, then uninstalling and reinstalling. Remove the leftovers above too, so the new copy starts with fresh settings.
