How to download and install Epic Games Launcher on Mac
Epic Games Launcher is the Mac app of the Epic Games Store: it installs and updates your games and gives away free games every week. Here is where to get it, how to install it and how to tell which games will run on your Mac.

Epic Games Launcher
- macOS 13.5 or later
- One file for Apple Silicon and Intel
- Free. Free games every week
Or the installer straight from the developer’s server:

Open Terminal (Applications › Utilities) and run:
brew install --cask epic-gamesHomebrew downloads the app from the developer’s server, checks the file and puts the app in Applications.
No Homebrew yet? How to install Homebrew: one command from brew.sh.
Before you download
Epic says the launcher needs macOS 13.5 Ventura or later. One installer works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The launcher runs on any such Mac, but not every game does: many games in the store are Windows-only. On a game’s store page, check that Platform lists macOS before you buy it.
Download the launcher only from epicgames.com. Look-alike sites and «free games» offers are a common way to spread malware and steal accounts.
How to install Epic Games Launcher
- Open
EpicInstaller-….dmgin your Downloads folder. - In the window that opens, drag Epic Games Launcher to the Applications folder.

- Eject the disk: click the eject button next to it in the Finder sidebar.
- Open Epic Games Launcher from Applications and click Open when macOS asks about an app downloaded from the internet.
- Wait while the launcher updates itself, then sign in to your Epic Games account or create one.
What to set up after the first launch
- Free games. Every week the store gives away games: open the Store in the launcher and claim them while the offer lasts. They stay in your Library, and you install the ones that support macOS when you like.
- Disk space. One game can take tens of gigabytes. Uninstall games you no longer play from the Library: click the three dots next to the title and choose Uninstall.
- Opening at login. If the launcher starts with your Mac and you don’t want it to, turn it off in System Settings › General › Login Items.
- Two-factor sign-in. Turn it on in your Epic account settings on the website: it protects your account and your games.
If the launcher won’t install or a game won’t start
- The launcher won’t open or shows an error about macOS. Check your version in Apple menu › About This Mac: Epic no longer supports macOS older than 13.5.
- A game won’t install or start. Check its store page: if macOS isn’t listed under Platform, the game doesn’t run on a Mac.
- The launcher is broken after an update. Uninstall your games in the launcher, remove it completely and install it again: see how to uninstall Epic Games Launcher on Mac. Your purchases stay in your account.
