How to uninstall Discord on Mac completely
Discord keeps its data, several caches and its updater’s files outside the app, and they stay after you drag Discord to the Trash. Here is how to remove all of it. Your messages and servers are not on your Mac: they stay in your Discord account.

- Open MacWashing and choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
- Click Show Apps and check Discord in the list.
- Click Remove and confirm. Files that may be yours are listed as Possible and stay unchecked.

Uninstall Discord the way Discord’s support describes
Discord’s help article on reinstalling the Mac app gives the steps for removing it completely: quit every Discord process, delete its data folder, then delete the app.
- Quit Discord with Command-Q, or choose Discord › Quit Discord in the menu bar.
- Open Activity Monitor (search for it with Spotlight), type Discord in the search field and stop any Discord processes that are still running.
- In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type
~/Library/Application Supportand press Return. - Move the discord folder to the Trash.
- Open Finder › Applications and drag Discord to the Trash.
- Restart your Mac, then empty the Trash.
If macOS says a file can’t be deleted because it’s in use, a Discord process is still running: stop it in Activity Monitor and try again.
What Discord leaves behind
Discord’s steps remove the first item. The others stay. All of them are in the Library folder inside your home folder:
~/Library/Application Support/discord— Discord’s data. Most of its caches (Cache,Code Cache,GPUCache) are inside.~/Library/Caches/com.hnc.Discord— another cache.~/Library/Caches/com.hnc.Discord.ShipIt— files of the updater.~/Library/Preferences/com.hnc.Discord.plist— settings.~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.hnc.Discord— saved web data.~/Library/Cookies/com.hnc.Discord.binarycookies— cookies.~/Library/Saved Application State/com.hnc.Discord.savedState— the window position macOS restores on launch.
Remove the leftovers by hand
- In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), type a path from the list above and press Return.
- Move the folder or file to the Trash.
- Repeat for the other paths.
- Restart your Mac, then empty the Trash.

Questions and answers
Will MacWashing delete my own files when it removes Discord?
No. The Uninstaller checks only what belongs to the app: its settings, caches, logs and background items. Folders that may hold your own files are listed as Possible and stay unchecked until you check them yourself, and apps go to the Trash by default, so you can put them back.
What if Discord is still running?
MacWashing waits for it to quit, or quits it at your request, and only then removes its files.
Is it free to uninstall Discord with MacWashing?
Yes, within the free trial: System Junk and the Uninstaller free up to 25 GB in total, with no account or card needed.
Will I lose my messages and servers?
No. Messages, servers and friends are stored in your Discord account, not on your Mac. Sign in after a reinstall, or on the web, and they are all there.
Does uninstalling Discord delete my account?
No. The account stays until you delete it yourself in Discord’s user settings. Removing the app only signs this Mac out.
Why can’t I move Discord to the Trash?
Discord is still running in the background. Quit it from the menu bar, then stop any remaining Discord processes in Activity Monitor and try again.
